Well, having read various reports about the upcoming UNKLE album I'm rather distressed. I like everything I have heard by UNKLE, and some of it I _really_ like, but this all seems to be prior to Tim Goldsworthy leaving and it turning into just James Lavelle and DJ Shadow. I really don't like DJ Shadow's music. Well, I think 'In Flux' and 'Lost and Found' were fine and dandy, but I really don't like anything else I've heard by him. I found 'Endtrouducing' very soulless, overly wrought and sterile. It reminded me more of art-rock than what I like about hip-hop. Anyway, are promos of the UNKLE album about (or is it actually released in the UK?) and what do other people think of it? What's underlying this: I've been hanging out for an UNKLE full-length for several years, and am doing the teenboy angst thing over the possibility that what I was hoping for was actually shelved and will never come to light in favour of more clever-clever crap. With good reason methinks.

It's not yet released, but it's being hyped to fuck. I've got a promo and at best you could say it was a load of poor B-Side outtakes by dodgy outfits like the Verve and Radiohead. At worst you could say it was the most halfhearted, contrived, manufactured and souless piece of musical drivel ever created. Still they let plaid do a couple of awesome remixes once so it can't all be bad. maybe on the tracks featuring pop stars, but i think there are probably better tunes on there, like the one featuring my label-mate badly drawn boy (look out for all or nothing on twisted nerve, out very soon :-) <waves> Subconscious Geography http://www.sub-con-geo.demon.co.uk +/sale +/cdr
